You know what its like sitting in the office all day, there comes a point where you have to have a biscuit or chocolate. If only there wasn’t your guilty conscious, because didn’t you plan to live healthier or wanted to drop a pound or two? Difficult with those kind of snacks.
How about trying a healthier option, such as humous and carrot sticks. And how about you are making humous yourself? Its pretty easy and often more delicious then the ones in the supermarket. Try it out.
Here is what you need & how you make it
- 1 x can chickpeas, 250 g without liquid
- 1 x clove of garlic
- 3 x ts lemon juice
- 2 x ts olive oil
- 4 x ts sesame paste (Tahin)
- 1 x ts cummin
- 1 x ts salt
- 1 x ts paprika, spicy
Separate the chickpeas from the water, but don’t chuck the water away just yet. Mix chickpeas with all the other ingredients and puree until smooth. In case the paste is too firm then add some of the chickpea water to it until it has the texture you love.
Well, now take your humous and some carrots to the office and snack around – without guilty conscious.

Due to the chickpeas humous contains many healthy nutrients, such as folic acid, vitamin B1, B2 and C. It is rich on the minerals iron, zinc and magnesium. Also chickpeas contain a protein content of about 20 percent, which already covers a third of the daily suggested intake of protein. Not to despise is also a high proportion of fiber, which has positive effects on digestion, metabolism and intestinal health. Humous is also rumored to have anti-inflammatory properties and has the ability to reduce Cholesterol. Well then, go for it.
